This page explains how EverAble decides what to write, how we check it, how we rank products, and what happens when we get something wrong.
What we write about
Protein for adults who want to stay strong, keep muscle and age well: how much you need, how the different sources compare, and which products hold up when you check them. We write for adults who want to stay strong for the years ahead, not for competitive athletes.
How we source and check
- We cite published research and official guidance, and link to the original wherever we can.
- Where credible sources disagree, we say so and show the disagreement rather than picking the answer we prefer.
- Product facts are reported as the label or public register states them on the date we checked, and each ranking shows that date.
Dietitian review
Before any nutrition article is published, a registered dietitian board-certified in gerontological nutrition reviews its health statements, recommendations and disclaimers. Meet our reviewer and see exactly what she checks.
How we rank products
- Every score comes from things anyone can check, such as cost per gram of protein, protein per calorie, what the label discloses and what public testing registers say. Each product category has its own published measurements. The full method and formulas are published.
- Products are scored before we look at whether they pay a commission. A commission is never a tie-breaker.
- We do not lab-test products ourselves. We report what labels and public registers say, and we say so on every ranking.
- No brand pays for placement or a score, and no brand sees a score before it is published.
We don’t currently accept free products from brands. If we ever do, we’ll say so on the page where the product appears, and we’ll tell the brand in writing that it will not influence the score.
Keeping it current
Prices, formulas and certifications change. We re-check the products we rank at least every three months, and whenever a reader or brand tells us something has changed, and we update the date on the page when we do.
Corrections
When we find an error, we fix it and add a dated note on the page saying what changed. If you spot one, write to hello@everablehealth.com, including if you work for a brand we have reviewed. Brands have a right of reply, and we publish corrections.
How we use software and AI
We use AI tools to help draft articles and check data. A person checks every article before it is published, and a registered dietitian reviews all nutrition content.
