Who we are
The founder started EverAble after trying to work out how much protein he actually needed and finding credible answers that ranged from about 60 grams a day to three times that. Along the way he noticed that protein had left the supplement aisle. It was no longer just powders and shakes but bars, cereals, yogurts, chips, frozen dinners, and tablets, each with its own claims and almost none easy to compare. He wanted one place that showed its sources, did its arithmetic in the open, and compared products in every form on things anyone can check.
Who this is for
Adults who want to stay strong and would rather choose protein on evidence than on marketing. Much of the protein advice out there is written for young athletes. We write for everyone else.
What we do
Two things.
We explain protein in plain language: how much you need, what the research says, how the different forms compare, and where credible sources differ and why.
And we compare products on things you can check: not taste, not marketing, not which brand sponsors which podcast. We start with protein powders, then ready-to-drink shakes, and over time every other form protein now comes in: bars, snacks, breakfast foods, meals, and tablets. Our protein powder scores are built from four measurements:
What 30 grams of protein actually costs. Tubs hold different amounts of protein, so tub prices are not comparable. This number is, and store shelves rarely show it.
What the label discloses. Whether every ingredient’s amount is listed, with no hidden blends; whether the ingredient list is short; how much added sugar there is; and whether it contains artificial colors.
Protein per calorie. How much of what you are eating or drinking is the thing you came for.
What the public testing registers say. Whether the specific product is listed by name in a certifier’s own register, whether there is a lot-level laboratory report, or whether the brand simply says it tests.
Other forms of protein, from bars to breakfast foods to tablets, may need fewer measurements or more. We will work out the right ones for each category, publish them before we score it, and add categories and the guides that go with them one at a time. Whatever the form, every measurement will be arithmetic or public record. For powders, all four are. You can check every one of them yourself, and the method is published so you can see exactly how a score was reached.
How we handle being wrong
We will be. Prices change, formulas get reformulated, and we make mistakes. When we find an error we fix it and note what changed and when. If you spot one, write to hello@everablehealth.com, including if you work for a brand we have reviewed. Manufacturers get a right of reply, and we publish corrections.
How we make money
Affiliate commissions, disclosed on every page that carries them. Products are scored before commissions are considered. The full explanation is on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
